Travelling from the UK? A type J adaptor will allow you to connect your UK (type G) plugs to a type J socket.
For Use in: Switzerland and Liechtenstein (3 Pin earthed).
Compatibility
Compatible with: Type J sockets only. Type C plugs (unearthed) are also compatible with type J sockets. The body of type E and type F plugs is generally too large to fit in the recess of the type J socket.

A type J travel adaptor will convert your British (type G) plugs to a 3 pin (earthed) configuration that will fit the type J sockets found in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. They do not convert the voltage or frequency of the electrical supply.

Most universal adaptors do not have a type J plug. The Skross Pro World is a notable exception and has a movable earth pin which allows it to connect to type J, L and N sockets but they are not common.

Yes, they are cross compatible and can be used safely. Type C plugs are 2 pin (unearthed) and are therefore not suitable for connecting earthed appliances.
