A type D travel adaptor will convert your British (type G) plugs to a 3 pin (earthed) configuration that will fit the type D (6A) sockets found in India, Nepal and Namibia. They do not convert the voltage or frequency of the electrical supply.

No, type D are rated at 6A whereas type M are rated at 16A and have larger diameter pins with wider spacing. Type D plugs will not fit type M sockets and vice versa.

Yes, but not safely. The pins on a type C plug are 4mm in diameter whereas the type D socket is designed to accept 5.1mm diameter pins. Whille the spacing will allow the plug to be physically inserted it makes a loose fit which can lead to sparking and is dangerous. Type C plugs are 2 pin (unearthed) and are therefore not suitable for connecting earthed appliances.
