A type A travel adaptor will convert your British (type G) plugs to a 2 blade (unearthed) configuration that will fit the type A sockets found in the USA, Canada, Central America and Japan. They do not convert the voltage or frequency of the electrical supply.

No. Type B plugs have a round earth pin and there is no corresonding hole in the type A socket so they will not fit.
