A type G travel adapter will convert your American (type A/B) plugs to a configuration with 3 rectangular prongs (grounded) that will fit the type G outlets found in the UK, Ireland, Cyprus, Malta, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. They do not convert the voltage or frequency of the electrical supply.

Yes, universal adapters have a type G plug. The most common models are ungrounded where the 3rd prong is plastic and does not make an electrical ground connection. Specific grounded versions are available if required.
